E. French Salon IdeaElizabeth French proposes for Friday"s Salon:
(text for this idea is on page linked below or as download word.doc)
I have a contribution for Friday's Salon, if scheduling allows. It's a very short, simple, spoken-word, choral chant for two groups of voices. I envision providing scripts, dividing the Salon-goers into sections, and leading the chant. Maybe there will be a drummer or two in attendance who might help with heartbeat and embellishment.
THe first part, "Break-Out," is a short warm-up, and I've included it below. I haven't quite finished the second part, but, like the first, it's pretty simple.
THe whole deal should take five-seven minutes or so. The dramatic setup and explanation probably will take longer than the performance of the chants. The second part, tentatively titled "Screech," uses almost the same performance methods.
I hope this piece can be used early in the evening's program. It would actually be a good lead-off piece, as the whole-group involvement will help people relax.
