WINTER POEMSMist Off Snow Reveals
mist off snow
reveals
canoe-
rested by stone wall,
appears suddenly
always longer than remembered
ready to swim again.
Snow Came Again
snow came again
as it should
one flake of miracle
at a time
white and wonderous as
how deep
how long it will fall
will it bridge itself
to next time or
not at all....
canoe must wait
till ice becomes mist
and thaws,
canoe waits
ice must thaw.
steadfast mist rise up!
unlock cold steel blue chamber,
let waves lap shores again
let lovers share
strokes again...
